Many people wonder what motivated me to create a website dedicated to camera equipment, encompassing various brands rather than focusing solely on one. Photography has been my lifelong passion, and I’d like to share how I arrived at the decision to cover multiple camera brands.
My First DSLR Interestingly, my journey with digital photography didn’t begin with any particular brand. My initial experience with digital photography involved a 4.0 Megapixel Olympus E10. Unfortunately, I didn’t use it extensively due to its fixed lens and limited 4 MP sensor. At the time, sensor dust was a major concern, and I mistakenly opted for a camera with a sealed lens.
Why I Chose to Review Various Camera Brands Sometimes, seemingly small choices can profoundly impact your life’s trajectory. I chose to review various camera brands primarily to provide a comprehensive resource for photographers of all preferences. Each brand offers unique features and qualities, and I wanted to ensure that photographers could make informed decisions regardless of their brand preferences.
Extensive research and countless reviews led me to my first DSLR, but it also opened my eyes to the vast world of photography equipment beyond a single brand.
The Birth of This Website I created this website with the aim of addressing your queries about a wide range of camera gear and helping you enhance your photography skills, regardless of the brand you choose. Whether it’s coaching young athletes, providing one-on-one camera guidance, or conducting photography workshops, I take immense pleasure in inspiring others and sharing my knowledge about different camera brands.
As I go about my day, people often discover my photography background and inquire about camera equipment. This website is designed to provide you with answers and guidance, no matter which brand you prefer.
How I Developed My Passion for Photography My journey into photography spans over three decades, commencing in 1969 when I was just 10 years old. Three specific factors ignited my passion for photography, none of which were related to financial gain:
- My fascination with light.
- My father’s lifelong love for photography, which introduced me to various camera types and even provided me with a darkroom kit.
- My encounter with a book featuring Ansel Adams’ iconic Yosemite photographs, which inspired my aspiration to capture landscapes.
Another driving force behind my decision to pursue photography professionally was my lack of enthusiasm for chemical engineering during my college years. This prompted me to explore my true passion, which ultimately led me to review and appreciate cameras from different brands.
For those seeking inspiration, you might find it in my recent photography work, showcased in my gallery of images paired with inspirational quotes.
Professional Photography Journey Over the years, I’ve reviewed and used cameras from various brands, honing my skills as a professional photographer. I’ve had the privilege of capturing moments and creating art with a wide range of equipment, each offering its own unique advantages and creative possibilities.
What’s in My Camera Bag? My camera gear has evolved over time, and I’ve had the opportunity to review and use cameras from different brands. At present, my equipment doesn’t fit into a single camera bag – not even close. Here’s a snapshot of my current gear:
- Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-f/5.6
- Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8
- Sony 85mm f/1.4
- Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8
- Panasonic Leica 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0
In addition to my camera bodies and lenses, I possess a myriad of accessories, including 9 tripods, 2 monopods, 5 speedlites, studio flash kits, extension tubes, clamps, reflectors, and more.
If you’re interested in exploring camera equipment and gathering information, I’ve compiled a list of resources that I personally use for research and purchases, spanning multiple brands to cater to a diverse audience of photographers.

Cameraslens came into existence following a discussion between David Wanson and some friends. They wanted to know which Lens is best for weddings. Minhas realized there must be a lot of people trying to figure out what “the best thing for X” is.
If you are trying to figure out which product is best for you, we believe you will find Cameraslens useful.
Many people just go with whatever product their friends recommend without doing any research at all. This is understandable. Not everyone has the time to do their own research and read hundreds of reviews.
That discussion Minhas had with his friends about the best wedding lenses ended in a Lenses store. They looked at thirty-six Lenses. Some were good and some were great. Some were junk, some were very expensive. After spending a few hours in the store, Minhas left with nothing except a great idea for a website.
The idea for Cameraslens.net is to provide honest information about different Lenses products in the format of a “Best lenses for AYZ” list.
We want this website to be the last destination for people as they pick the best product to fit their needs. You can find our unbiased reviews here on Cameraslens.
